Randi Weingarden's AFT has programs to do just that. But I think the problem will ultimately be addressed when American public school teachers and parents start speaking up to demand the kind of education that democracies deserve--not one focused on equality of outcome (the premise of NCLB/RTTT) but on equality of opportunity. Then we'd see the quality improvements everyone agrees we need.abendelowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00088399932714674377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5216169138667853054.post-53885340509546335222012-03-06T20:20:14.239-05:002012-03-06T20:20:14.239-05:00"Absent from this discussion are the teachers..."Absent from this discussion are the teachers who perform poorly, do no help students succeed, and do not serve their profession well. Where are their voices? When do we actually hear from those who are the ones all of these policy changes and accountability are supposed to flush out?"<br /><br />At least you're honest; you admit that the reform movement's goal is to rid the country of the shitty teachers.<br /><br />Of course, that's not what "reform" was designed ostensibly to do. It was supposed to help close the achievement gap. You reformy types think firing teachers will do that, but you're wrong.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04089587797789660734noreply@blogger.com
